CLEAN UP SPORTS.

To clean up the sports scene in India,we must first clean up the sports administration. The sportsmen and women do their jobs by toiling hard to achieve laurels in their respective sports, but the sports administration lacks credibility. In any international events abroad, the administrators only think about sending their cronies to go along with the contingent  apart from their families. Now that the International Olympic Committee(IOC) has suspended us,it gives us an opportunity to clean up the sports bodies.Firstly, the government should strictly inform all the Sports bodies both at National and state level to adopt the sports code.Secondly, the constitution of the Indian Olympic Association(IOA) should be amended to incorporate the sports code. The International Olympic Committee(IOC) will not have any issues with National Sports Federations amending their constitution to incorporate the sports code.It looks that the
IOC has been misinformed that the government is interfering with the IOA's election process. The government representatives should have a detailed discussion about this with the IOC officials.Once they (IOC) understand and get a clear picture about the happenings in IOA,they(IOC) will revoke the suspension.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN INDIAN OLYMPIC ASSOCIATION ELECTIONS?

The sudden resignation of Mr.Qureshi, former Chief Election Commissioner from
the Three member panel to conduct elections to IOA has raised several issues.

The Indian Olympic Association has become the fiefdom of few who hold office
for several decades. Many officials have not played the sport which they represent
and they are there due to the political patronage. The Indian Olympic Association,
the apex sports body comprising of sports which come under the Olympic banner.
All the Olympic sports associations of states are members of the IOA.Mr.Ajay Maken,
earlier sports minister tried his best to have a clean sports administration in the
country and he wanted to rope in even cricket under the national sports policy.
Before he could achieve it,he was transferred and the new sports minister is yet to
pick up threads.

SPORTSMEN AND WOMEN SHOULD NOT RUN AFTER ENDORSEMENTS.

It has become the order of the day that after achieving some success, sportsmen
and women endorse various products which are nothing to do with sports. Some
cricketers even endorse mineral water brands manufactured by liquor companies
as a surrogate advertising. This is not a healthy sign. Some sportspersons after
achieving little success want to start academy even while they are still to peak.

In this context,P.T.Usha stands tall as she started the academy after retiring
from active sports and she did not endorse any commercial products except
for promoting drinking coconut water which is a  health drink compared to
Coco Cola,Pepsi and other aerated soft drinks.

INDIAN SPORTS -ARE WE IN THE RIGHT TRACK?

Hi ! I am  Kamala Srinivasan an International sportsperson represented the country in the WORLD CUP HELD IN SCOTLAND,FIVE NATION TOURNAMENT HELD IN SPAIN  AND ASIA CUP HELD IN INDIA in women's Hockey.I have also represented the country in Three Asian Master's Athletic Championships and won 5 Gold Medals,3 Silver medals and 1 bronze Medal and also in Open Master's Athletic Championship held in Colombo and won Three Gold Medals.I was the captain of Bombay University Team and Bombay for the Junior
Nationals which Bombay won.

India is a country of 1.2 Billion people and we got only 6 medals in the recently concluded London Olympics. Though it is a reason to celebrate as this is the highest medals tally India posted in any Olympics. But compared to China who is second in medals tally with almost the same population, there is a reason to seriously ponder over what has gone wrong and what is still going wrong.
