DEVIL'S ADVOCATE.
Media wants BCCI President Mr.N.Srinivasan to step down but the working group
of BCCI decides that Mr.Srinivasan steps aside till the probe is completed.
Mr.Srinivasan,Vice chairman,India Cements,a company that owns the IPL Franchise
Chennai Super kings. The owner according to BCCI & IPL as per the accreditation
given is Mr.Gurunath Meiyappan, son in law of Mr.N.Srinivasan.Mr.Meiyappan is
being probed by Delhi Police for his alleged involvement in spot fixing scam along
with another bookie. The irony is till now no player of CSK is caught for
spot fixing but three players of Rajasthan Royals another IPL Franchise were
caught for their alleged involvement. The probe is on and the matter is sub judice.
As CSK owner Mr.Meiyappan is being probed by Delhi police, there is hue and cry
that the President of BCCI Mr.N.Srinivasan should resign on moral grounds.
As morality is personal, and nobody can be compelled to resign,Mr.N.Srinivasan
refuses to resign as he feels that he has done no wrong and he is an elected
President.Morality is a rare commodity in our country either in politics or in
all positions in the society. We are not late Mr.Lal Bahadur Shastri, who was
once the railway minister and he resigned when a train accident took place in
Ariyalur in Madras state then. Moral grounds & owning Moral responssibility
is used loosely and frequently in our country without serving the purpose.
Many people should have resigned on moral grounds who are in high places
accepting moral responssibility, but how many have done it in last few decades is the moot question ?.
